Building Department
Effective May 28, 2025, permits may be applied for online at BuildingPermits.Oregon.gov
The City of Lafayette Building Department performs residential and commercial plan review, site review, and inspections; issues structural, plumbing, mechanical, fence, and other permits; answers code questions and code enforcement (structural, mechanical and plumbing); assists with ordinance enforcement and community complaints. All department functions enforce and are in compliance with the State Building Codes.
ePermitting
Beginning May 28, 2025, the City of Lafayette will offer online structural, plumbing and mechanical permit submittals and purchasing through the State of Oregon ePermitting system, wich is available 24/7. Please go to www.buildingpermits.oregon.gov to use ePermitting and follow the on-screen instructions. If you need help in setting up your ePermitting account, please contact their help desk at 503-373-7396.
You can do all of the following online with ePermitting:
• Make application online for all available permit types,
• In cases where no plan review is required, you can pay and get an issued permit all online in one-stop,
• Upload documents like electronic plans and other types of documents online; and
• Schedule inspections and track application/permit status online as well.
There is also the option to use an app to track permits and schedule inspections that makes managing your records on-the-go very easy and convenient! Search the iOS or Android app store for 'epermitting'.
After completion of the permit application and plan review (if required), payment may be made through the system; the contractor will receive an ‘Authorization to Begin Work’ form and receipt via email. The City of Lafayette Building Department may request additional forms or information.
